FMEDIA AND MEDIA SELECT
What is it ?
Media Select is nothing more than a set of buttons designed to perform 1 function each. The buttons are configured much the same way that you would configure the 3rd button of a mouse to perform a particular function or use hot keys to activate a specific task. ( F1 for help) All information is stored in the Windows Registry.
The board is designed to function through the PS/2 mouse port. The Media Select board also requires a PS/2 mouse be attached to work correctly.
What it does....
The Media Select board is designed to reduce multiple actions to a single button push. Want to access the Internet ? just push a button, and Media Select will open your DUN connection, dial the access # and sign you on. Can't reach the volume control on your speakers ? Push a button and adjust the volume to an acceptable level. Want to retrieve faxes and voice mail ? Push another button, and the appropriate screens open for faxes. Voice mail is automatically played.
How to fix it....
Check for the folder FMEDIA in the root directory.
If it is not there, install the program using either PBReload, or the Install folder.
If it is there, click start>run> and type win.ini.
On the "RUN=" line make sure it has the following paths....
REBOOT.
VERIFY PROPER HARDWARE INSTALLATION.
REPLACE THE MEDIA SELECT BOARD ONLY IF THE SOFTWARE IS INSTALLED CORRECTLY AND THE MOUSE WORKS ONLY WHEN CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO THE COMPUTER............
